Borrowing

Louisiana issues general obligation bonds backed by its full faith and credit, approved by the State Bond Commission and subject to a constitutional limit on annual debt service. The bonds are sold to investors in the tax-exempt municipal market. The state reported about $461 million in interest on its debt in fiscal 2024.
